In this video, I will show you exactly how to train a puppy to go potty outside. I have created several puppy potty training videos to help you through the process, and one common thing I hear is that a viewer’s puppy doesn’t like to go potty outside. Puppies can be easily distracted before they have gotten any training so I will talk about some ways you can easily teach your puppy to go potty outside!

We publish new videos every week to help you to have a well behaved four-legged family member!

Thanks for watching

Do you feel like you're making all of the right choices, but your puppy is still having trouble with Potty Training? You're probably making one of these 4 BIG mistakes: https://youtu.be/IiHfZIeWSHA

when my puppy squats down to poop, I scoop her up, run to the back door, she poops on my foot, I step in it with the other foot, I make it in the backyard, my bro grabs the leash, I hook the leash on her harness, she plays outside, I take her back in FUGGEEE, she just pooped on the floor one sec, so I take her back in, and she pees on the floor, then she plays outside, REPEAT

Took your advise. When I try to distract him away with the leash he then gnaws on the leash. Now the leash has become the distraction. I guess my question then is when I bring him in back to his crate how do I make so he doesn't interpret it as a consequence?

I tried this advice and it's not working 🙁
My 5month old puppy has been in her crate since 10:30am. I come home at 3pm. She has been in her crate for 4.5 hours. I have taken her out for 5 min and in crate for 2min for the last 2 hours and still nothing. This is extremely exhausting….my puppy us crying and she hasn't peed in 6.5 hours….I'm losing hope. She just went go….I dont know what to do next or whether to keep doing this method. Please help!

I'm trying this approach but even though she hasn't gone (it's been over an hour since she has eaten and I've taken her out several times/put her back in her crate) she just won't go. She has started just sitting there. I feel bad having her in her crate that long. But I don't want her to poop in my house anymore ☹️

My boy just hates to poop outside. I need to take
    Him
For a few blocks when I walk but my asthma hinders me from giving him the full potential.

My puppy when I remain in that spot just lays down so I’ll tug the leash to stand up and she’ll walk a little bit and then lay back down

So my dog is potty trained already. I notice after she pees, she keeps peeing at random grasses. Is this marking?

My puppy doesn’t even want to go outside to use the bathroom so how would I motivate/get him to go outside to use the bathroom. So how would I get him to go back outside once I get him back inside? This is the situation I’ve been having

    Hello!
So this is our first week with puppy, we have been following her like a hawk indoors and taken a week off work to help her adjust. We wanted to crate train her and so she sleeps inside the crate with the door locked during the day, she is very settled in the crate and we have made it really small as suggested, when she gets out we take her to wee. At night we have placed her crate inside a small enclosure/playpen where we have laid a fresh patch of lawn in our laundry so we keep the crate door open so she can take herself, on her first 2 nights every 2 – 4 hours she woke and we went down and told her to go potty which she did most times so we have now gotten into this routine of crate door open at night in her playpen with the lawn available for her to take herself

My question is, in future are we setting her up to fail by not doing the proper crate training at night with the door closed? Are we giving her the option go go when she needs and hence not teaching her to hold? She now sleeps without a peep for approx 8-9 hours but we are unsure if she is going potty in between,we think she is.

We will always be able to have her in this set up at home but if we need to take her away somewhere over night without the enclosure will she then struggle to hold in the crate?

Sorry very long essay, hope it makes sense

I knew I did something wrong…It was not putting her directly back in the crate when we returned home without going potty. I really appreciate this video. I will be following your lead from now on. THANK YOU!!

You have this and two other related videos that really explain the process well.

My pup will only go outside sometimes but seems to have no issue going pee inside. I think the “outside to crate” method when she doesn’t go will fix half the problems I’m having. The other half is discouraging the indoor elimination in the moment.

For me, I don’t think I’ve taken full advantage of my puppy’s crate. She likes it and doesn’t mind going in it, but I really only put her in there to sleep. I should use it more to help curb this behavior and to house her when I can’t give her my total attention.

I have a question! You said keep the walks boring and dont move around too much… my puppy is 12 weeks old and if I kind of just stand there he stares up at me and stays standing beside me. I also take him out for 20 minute walks and he does his business but he pees sooooo much and does it in the house after I walk him. I've told him "no" and tried to get him outside but his bowel movements are super soft and he cant really hold it. Maybe it's the food or snacks I'm giving him? Hes a pitsky (pitbull husky)

I take my puppy out and walk around the yard and he goes potty. I have a doggy door and he knows how to get in-and-out. But I'm trying to get him to go out through the doggy door to go to the bathroom. When he does go to the bathroom in the house he knows hes wrong because the heads right for the doggy door when he sees me spotting where he went to the bathroom. So why is he resisting going outside to go to the bathroom for sure with out me.

My 4 month old lab puppy will go outside. He goes to the bathroom when we go outside but the problem is that he goes inside too. I take him out every 40 minutes to an hour. I also take him outside 10-15 minutes after he eats or drinks water.(I feed him 2 times a day) He just won't stop going Inside. The most frustrating fact about this is that when I put puppy pads out just incase he doesn't even pee on those.

My puppy goes outside when I get them out there, but then he will also just pee inside without any warning. He knows to pee on grass but it hasn't clicked to him that he is only supposed to go on grass. I've been potty training him for a few weeks now. Any tips?
